Girl Power!

The first ever Global Power 100 Women in Staffing list features two Pertemps luminaries.

The inaugural list is compiled by Staffing Industry Analysts and fixes its attention firmly on female ‘game changers’ from the world of recruitment.

Carmen Watson, Chairperson of Pertemps, and fellow Board member Michelle White, who heads up the Pertemps Managed Solutions business, are named in the list having been recognised for their stellar achievements.

The Global Power 100 Women in Staffing is made up of 50 names from North America and 50 from Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East.

Editor at Staffing Industry Analysts, Subadhra Sriam, said: “On the face of it, there are many women in branch offices filling admin and clerical positions. But there is a glass ceiling; few make it to the boardroom. By showcasing these women, we hope to draw attention to the gender gap that exists in staffing, albeit less than in some other industries— and introduce talking points that lead the industry forward.

“Regardless of titles, these women are game changers, people who have taken their operations to a whole new level. Please take a moment to applaud these honorees.”

Carmen Watson joined Pertemps in 1976 as a secretary and by 1983 had progressed to the boardroom as Commercial Director. During the period 1983 to 2000, she was responsible for the formation of a corporate business team and turnover grew tenfold from £32m to £323m.  In the year 2000 Carmen was promoted to the position of Managing Director and then Chairperson of Pertemps in 2012.

Michelle White is the Head of Pertemps Managed Solutions, an industry leader in the provision of workforce talent acquisition solutions. She has overseen the growth of the business to become a £400m business with 250 offices across the UK and global hires in excess of 150,000. In addition, Michelle has over 20 years’ experience of working for parent company Pertemps, 14 of which have been at Director level.
